Welcome to TAK

The Tunnelling Association of Kenya (TAK) brings together Kenyan, African and International individuals and firms to promote and advance Kenyan tunnelling and underground excavation technologies and to represent the interests of the tunnelling and underground excavation community in matters of technical and public concern.

Through association-sponsored meetings, course, workshops and conferences held across Kenya, TAK encourages excellence and safety in the design, construction and maintenance of tunnels and underground excavations.

As the Kenyan representative body of the International Tunnelling Association (ITA) the Tunnelling Association of Kenya helps ensure Kenyan tunnelling practitioners are connected to a world-wide network of experts keeping Kenyan practice at the highest standards of international excellence.

Our Objectives

  • Promote use of Underground Space

    TAK shall  promote the use of underground space in Kenya through liaising with all stakeholders including Government, Public Bodies and other organizations or individuals.

  • Education

    To Co-operate with Universities, other Educational Institutions and Public Educational Authorities for the furtherance of Education and Training in underground space use, Tunnelling Science and Practice.

  • Safety

    To promote and improve tunnel safety during construction and operation.

  • Liaise with International Tunneling Association (ITA)

    To associate with the International Tunnelling Association (ITA) for the purposes of knowledge sharing and application of technology
